What is a LU card and why do I need one?

Your LU card is your Leiden University ID card. It also serves as your library card, print & copy card and access pass for various buildings and rooms.

Your LU card is not proof of student registration but is nevertheless very important. In the future the university plans to expand the scope of the LU-Card by, for example, requiring student to show their LU card prior to taking exams. It is therefore essential that you request your LU card as soon as you start studying at Leiden University.

LU cards can get damaged if you don’t look after them properly. Protective covers can be purchased from the university shop at Plexus Student Centre.
