How do I apply for a scholarship to study at Leiden University?
There are several ways to obtain a scholarship. Usually scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit. Information about the various scholarships available can be found on our Scholarships webpage.
Application procedures vary per scholarship, some require a motivation letter and/or excellent study results, others a recommendation letter. For the exact procedures please check the details of the scholarship in question.
When applying for admission via Leiden University's online application system, you indicate that you want to apply for certain university scholarships, or indicate your intention to apply for other scholarships.
Deadlines vary per scholarship. See our scholarships web information for details.
In general it takes about 6 weeks before a decision is made on your application for admission, depending on the completeness of your application. So we would advise you to bear this in mind and submit your application as early as possible.
Please also mention clearly the name of your scholarship and its application deadline in your application for admission and we will do our best to help you meet your scholarship deadline.
