Can I study Medicine at Leiden University?
Yes, you can. However, you do need to bear in mind some special aspects of our programme in Medicine.
Medicine degree programmes in the Netherlands are heavily over-subscribed. As a consequence, only a very small percentage of international students will be offered a place. Usually a candidate has less than 5% chance of getting into the programme.
Taught in Dutch
Please note that the full programme in Medicine is taught in Dutch and all applicants need to prove their proficiency in Dutch.
The programme has a numerus fixus, i.e. a limited number of places. As a result, there is a highly competitive admission procedure. Only a limited number of students may commence the Medicine programme each year.
